Ransomware Preparedness and Response



Course Description

October is Cybersecurity Awareness month. Join us on October 21 at 9:00 am HST as Troy Adams, US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Jimmie Collins, Hawaii Office of Homeland Security, share information on the top ransomware groups impacting the healthcare industry, provide an overview of ransomware capabilities and mitigation strategies, and share local resources available to Hawaii's healthcare providers.

Participation in the live webinar is limited to the first 100 participants. This session will be recorded and made available on the HAH website for on-demand viewing within one week of the live webinar date.

Troy Adams
US Department of Health and Human Services

Troy Adams is a cybersecurity evangelist for healthcare and public health critical infrastructure in support of the Health Sector Cybersecurity Coordination Center (HC3) at the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).  In his work, he leverages decades of experience supporting and administering IT and security at HP Enterprise Systems, US Navy, US Army, FBI, and the private sector. 

Certified as an Information Security and Privacy Professional, he holds degrees in Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Business from the University of Arizona and Boise State University, teaches cybersecurity at Arizona State University, mentors security and IT professionals in several national and regional organizations, and is president of the (ISC)2 Southern Arizona Chapter.

Ms. Jimmie L. Collins presently serves as the Planning and Operations Branch Chief under the Hawaii State Office of Homeland Security, with a focus on supporting COVID-19 response, recovery, and long-term resilience planning.  More broadly, she develops, oversees, coordinates, directs, implements, and leads Homeland Security operations and planning for the State of Hawaii.  She coordinates and directs teams engaged in developing, testing, evaluating, and implementing projects; and evaluating and monitoring program performance against stated Homeland Security goals and objectives.  She also develops, implements, and updates state plans and procedures and assists in business continuity of operations planning. 

Ms. Collins graduated from Park University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resource Management and earned her Master of Public Administration degree from The University of Oklahoma.
