TJC Standards for Workplace Violence

Course Description
The Joint Commission (TJC) issued standards on Workplace Violence Prevention which became effective on January 1, 2022. This webinar will focus on how to bring a covered healthcare organization into compliance with these standards and requirements.
In this webinar, we will:
Examine each standard within TJC’s Workplace Violence Prevention Standard and what each is meant to accomplish
Explore strategies commonly used to come into compliance
Review best practices related to Workplace Violence Prevention
Discuss potential plan elements for use in a Workplace Violence Prevention plan

Speaker
Edward L. Howard possesses 39 years of law enforcement, combined with private hotel, hospital, hospitality and corporate security experiences, and has handled administrative (public and private sector), criminal, regulatory, and private investigations. Over the last 15 years, Mr. Howard had been employed in the private sector security management field and currently is owner of a security consultation and professional training firm focusing on all industry types of security, related safety and emergency management.
Mr. Howard is certified by the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) as a Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS) and holds current certifications as a Certified Protection Officer (CPO) from the International Foundation of Protection Officers (IFPO) and as a Certified Homeland Protection Professional (CHPP) from the National Sheriff’s Association and the National Domestic Preparedness Coalition. He serves as the current Chapter Chairman for the Hawaii Chapter of the IAHSS and is also a member of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
Mr. Howard holds current certifications as an instructor and a Faculty Level Trainer for Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM); the State of Hawaii, Department of Commence and Consumer Affairs, security training & licensing certification program; Homeland Security/FEMA course on Screening Persons by Observational Techniques (SPOT) and as a master instructor for Armorer Holdings Inc., to teach and certify law enforcement officers on conducting field drug tests. He has attended both the basic and advanced courses in the Reid Technique of Interview and Interrogation and is currently a member of the John E. Reid Interviewing and Interrogation Institute Association.
Leading a professional and expert training staff, his current firm provides consulting services which include risk and vulnerability assessments, mitigation strategies, threat management, program reviews, environmental safety reviews, policy and procedures creation, security program startups, security systems design and planning, security industry subject matter expertise, litigation support, outsourcing management, security manpower proposals, security event planning, and executive protection planning.
